Ottawa invests $5 million to fight gridlock in south end
Province using money to fund new bus service, improve intersections and add high-occupancy vehicle lanes
OTTAWA — The Ontario government is fighting gridlock in south Ottawa by investing $5 million in a range of initiatives, including a new bus service, intersection improvements and high-occupancy vehicle lanes.
The new bus service will run from Barrhaven to Kanata and will be up and running by the end of the year
The province is also investing in intersection improvements at Strandherd Drive and Hunt Club Road, and at Merivale Road and Clyde Avenue.
The province is also adding high-occupancy vehicle lanes to Highway 417 between Innes Road and the Queensway.
The province says the new initiatives will help to improve traffic flow and reduce gridlock in south Ottawa.
