Hugh Freeze Buyout

Hugh Freeze's New Contract Details Released

Auburn's Head Coach Inks Six-Year, $65 Million Deal

Salary and Buyout Terms Revealed

Auburn University has released details of Hugh Freeze's new contract, which will pay him $40 million through 2030. The deal, which includes a Power Five-friendly buyout clause, was finalized on October 28, 2022.

According to the contract, Freeze will have a base salary of $6.5 million annually over the six-year term. The buyout clause reportedly allows him to leave for another SEC or Power Five school without penalty as early as October 28, 2023.

The contract also includes performance-based bonuses and incentives, including bonuses for winning the SEC Championship, making the College Football Playoff, and achieving a certain number of wins each season.

Freeze's previous contract at Liberty University paid him an average of more than $4 million per year and ran through the 2028 season. However, Auburn's offer proved too lucrative for the 54-year-old coach to turn down.
